ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Alex.
I’m the person behind ENKU — an open-source pocket e-reader built around E Ink, physical controls and a simple idea: useful hardware should be understandable, modifiable and possible to build yourself.
WHY ENKU
I wanted a reader that felt like a project, not an appliance.
ENKU started with a simple question: how small and approachable can a useful e-reader be when it is built from accessible modules, open software and a printable enclosure?
I’m interested in the whole product, not just one layer of it — hardware choices, interaction, typography, firmware, documentation and the physical object itself.
The goal is not to imitate a commercial reader. It is to make something people can understand, reproduce, change and improve.
WHAT I WORK ON
Between product design and making things real.
My work on ENKU sits between software and hardware. I design interfaces, prototype physical products, work with ESP32-based hardware and turn rough ideas into systems that can eventually be built and documented.
ESP32, E Ink, physical controls, modules and practical prototyping.
Designing product behavior around real hardware constraints.
BOMs, build notes, design files, guides and project structure.
OPEN SOURCE
I’m building ENKU in public.
The repository is where the project evolves: interface work, hardware research, firmware, enclosure files, build notes and the roadmap. It is still a work in progress — intentionally.
